The Building Department is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of City and State codes relating to the construction, remodeling, alteration, repair, and demolition of buildings and structures located within the City of the Village of Clarkston.
The purpose of such codes is to provide minimum standards to safeguard public safety, property, and welfare by regulating and controlling the numerous factors involved with development. To ensure that construction work complies with applicable codes, the City requires comprehensive plans for most types of projects and inspections are conducted at periodic stages of the work.
City staff strives to provide quick and accurate construction project plan review and permit issuance services, along with plot plan if needed. We will do everything possible to assist you in processing your application.
All permit applications are located in the Forms Center as a fillable document, or in the Document Center as a PDF. The fillable document will be sent directly to the building department once it is submitted, whereas the PDF needs to be emailed, faxed or mailed.
OnlinePermit Payment Process
Before permits can be paid online, your application must be submitted to the building department to be processed. Once a permit has been processed, you will be issued and emailed a permit number. You must reference the permit number during the online payment process.
