The City of the Village of Clarkston building department reminds property owners to pull the proper permits for any new construction, addition, change, or repair to a building (including reroofs, fireplaces, swimming pools, etc.). You can file a single building permit application for all work on a project including building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc. online on our website at www.villageofclarkston.org or fill one out at City Hall at 375 Depot. Only a licensed contractor or the property owner can apply for and receive a building permit. Please note: All exterior changes to any structure or property within the historic district – old or new construction – first require review and approval by the Clarkston Historic District Commission (HDC). This means any change beyond paint color, including but not limited to siding, window replacement, door replacement, any demolition or addition, also addition or removal of architectural elements, and major character-defining landscaping characteristics, including fences. HDC review applications are available on the website or at City Hall. If you have any questions regarding your project please contact the building department at 248-625-1559.
