Why is the city considering building an industrial garage in the heart of the city commercial/business district and blocking off the public from the park and Village Hall? Please consider using the available school or township properties that are not at the access to parks and public meeting places and not in a historic business district. This is really a bad use of highly valuable property and a detriment to the value of our downtown.

More than anything else, a city, state, village, etc, should provide services to its residents. These are services that can be best handled by pooling the tax money paid by the citizens. From my community, I look for safety, fire, schools, traffic, streets, sidewalks, water, sewer, garbage, and recreation, as the "biggies." In a once semi-rural community as Clarkston, I realize that all these services are not provided, such as water and garbage collection, for everyone. But, I do want to see the other services provided at a level commensurate with the high city taxes we pay. I do not care how the city does it, but I want to see these services provided in an economical manner. That does not include building an unnecessary, unattractive, and unsafe building in Depot park. That is not what my tax money should be going for. My city does not need to build this "monument" but needs to provide services.

If the additional facilities are not built some equipment will have to be stored at the Junior High, Township, or left outside. Vote thumbs up if you agree with the expansion; Thumbs down if you think the money would be better spent elsewhere.

There are signs in Depot Park about a Community Conversation on November 16 at the Library to discuss plans for the park. The signs also say to put ideas in this section of the city web site. So far, there doesn't appear to be anything new and the top issue is not to build a DPW Garage in the park even though the Facilities Committee is still considering that for unknown reasons.
Simple things that could be done:
1. Put the bike rack back where it is more usable, not 40 feet off the path. Add another one to encourage their use.
2. Fix the water fountain so it works unlike all of this year.
3. Make sure the Poopy Pouch dispensers have bags (they often don't) so people can clean up after their animals.
4. Consider lighting along the path so that it is more usable and safe in the evening, especially since it is getting dark earlier.
5. Plant native plants and other gardens that don't need the time, expense and pollution of mowing every week.

Winter is coming again and we will once again have the problem of when snow is removed from sidewalks. So that everyone understands the time and cost involved, I think the city should try and clear the sidewalks throughout the city and see not only what it costs, but what type of feedback the city gets from residents and visitors. At a minimum it should be tried in the downtown area where there is no room for businesses to go with snow. It could be a great incentive for people to come to the Village and probably not cost that much money since the DPW already has the equipment to do it and is here. If the city can do all the roads, other than those done by the County, it just makes sense for them to do the sidewalks which are all part of the public right of way.

I felt like a criminal and over punished for not understanding it was a one way street, and for living there. Lingor Dr has an island implying 2 lanes of traffic. No signs are posted its a one way. Ridiculous- change it to a service drive at least.

8. Provide anything other than portable toilets at the entrance to the park. This is not how we should welcome people to our downtown park or the only facility people should have to use when in the park.
9. Consider re-working or even eliminating the planters along Depot. They are not historic, they are not even of historic character, the space could be used for better parking and they block the view of the park from the street.
10. Finish up the work at the south entrance. It has been over a year and it is still incomplete, unsafe and not very welcoming with caution tape strung around the entrance.

There have been a lot of reports on social media of people driving the wrong way on Depot at Main. There is only a sidewalk on the north side as the south side has a tree blocking it. The tree on the north corner has been hit twice and been gone for several years. The slope of the sidewalk from Main Street to the city parking lot is to steep for some and there is no crossing at the bottom of the hill to get to the parking lot. As part of city's efforts to establish capital improvement costs and priorities, this entire section of street should be redesigned for the safety and convenience of all and to provide better access to the public parking lot.
